This photo-collection was done by my son with Nikon the camera. Simply he tested the camera. He tried its excellent abilities to make distant objects closer and then to capture their enlarged pictures. We were sitting in the veranda of our base with the amazing view of the Indian Ocean and immediate surroundings.

First he tried to photograph the most distant objects visible on the sea surface. For example, he took an enlarged picture of a boat floating nearby the horizon. Its enlarged photo was so perfect that we could read its name written on its side. Or we could recognized separate members of its crew.

Then Robert focused his interest on various things on the coastline at our sight. There was a tall tree to the left in the view of our observatory. He started taking detailed pictures of its branches, small cones and needles.

Well, you can see various photos of this tree species in many parts of this narration. We could met it in manifold places of the island, it has often been planted alongside beaches where it has formed shadowy woods above the sandy zones or it has been an important compound of various parks at the seaside.

But I must correct its botanic identity because wrongly I placed it into Tamarix the genus in some previous parts. As the time has been going gradually both my botanic and zoological identifications or determinations has been becoming more exact. This process is like a back reconstruction of a whole picture, step by step. Well then, this tree species is not of Tamarix the genus but of Casuarina the genus. Its complete scientific name is Casuarina equisetifolia.

Pět fotek jednoho stromu
a další ukázky vzdálených objektů
v nejvyšším rozlišení

Tuhle foto-kolekci udělal můj syn foťákem zn. Nikon. Prostě foťák testoval. Zkoušel jeho skvělé schopnosti přiblížit vzdálené objekty a poté jejich zvětšené obrazy zachytit. Seděli jsme zrovna na verandě naší základny s úžasným výhledem na Indický oceán a bezprostřední okolí.

Nejdřív zkoušel fotit nejvzdálenější objekty viditelné na mořské hladině. Například pořídil zvětšený obrázek člunu, který vzplýval nedaleko horizontu. Zvětšené foto bylo tak dokonalé, že jsme mohli přečíst jeho jméno napsané na boku. Nebo jsme dokázali rozpoznat jednotlivé členy jeho posádky.

Pak Robert svůj zájem zaměřil na různé věci na pobřeží v našem dohledu. Vlevo ve výhledu naší pozorovatelny byl vysoký strom. Robert se pustil do focení detailních obrázků jeho větví, šištiček a jehlic.

Různé fotky tohoto stromového druhu můžete vidět v mnoha částech vyprávění. Mohli jsme se s ním potkat na rozmanitých místech ostrova, často se vysazuje podél pláží, kde vytváří stinné háje nad písčitými zónami nebo je významnou složkou různých parků u moře.

Musím však opravit jeho botanickou totožnost, protože jsem ho v některých předchozích částech chybně řadil do rodu tamarišek (Tamarix). Jak čas běží, postupně se moje botanická i zoologická určení zpřesňují. Tento proces se podobá zpětné rekonstrukci celkového obrazu, krok za krokem. Nuže tedy, tento stromový druh není z rodu tamarišek (Tamarix), nýbrž z rodu přesličník (Casuarina). Jeho úplné vědecké jméno je přesličník tichomořský (Casuarina equisetifolia).
