Tenerife in My Free Memories
A Tree Fern

| The Fig.1: This tall tree fern grew together with two or three smaller specimens in front of the main entrance into the Botanic Garden. The tree ferns are not common element of the urban flora in the island. Tenerife, on August 2016. During my stay at Tenerife the largest island within The Canary Islands also I had the unique chance to visit to the local Botanic Garden. I did a lot of photos in its graceful surroundings and the tree fern you can see on the Fig.1 was photographed in front of its main entrance. In fact there were more specimens of this fern there but this one was the tallest of them. They grew above a road passing by the BG. Hence the top of one street lamp to the right on the picture.

Though I have already been aware of the existence of the tree ferns for a long time my personal meetings with them have always been a great experience to me. To see a tree fern growing freely somewhere alongside a street in Czech republic would be a straight way to a mental hospital.

Here we can be proud of several interesting and unusual species of the ferns but none of them keeps the tree like appearance, they all are herbs only. The current tree ferns have been living memories of the lost times when no man has existed.
Well, I assume that the tree fern on my photos could be Cyathea australis or The Australian Tree Fern in English. But it is my rough estimation only.

| The Fig.5: A next photo of the leaf´s underside of a tree fern. You can photograph the underside of leaves with the tree ferns in a comfortable way because you have it rightly above your head. Mostly if you photograph the herbaceous ferns you must use one of your hands to see the underside. But there is a reversed problem if you want to take a better photo of the upper part of a leaf of a tree fern. Tenerife, on August 2016. Obr.5: Další foto spodní strany listu u stromové kapradiny. U stromových kapradin můžete fotit spodní stranu listů pohodlně, protože ji máte přímo nad hlavou. Povětšinou, fotíte-li bylinné kapradiny, musíte použít jednu z rukou, abyste viděli spodek. Ale chcete-li pořídit lepší foto svrchní části listu u stromovité kapradiny, nastává opačný problém. Tenerife, srpen 2016. |
Během pobytu na Tenerife, největším ostrově v rozsahu Kanárských ostrovů, jsem měl také jedinečnou možnost navštívit místní Botanickou zahradu. Udělal jsem v jejím půvabném prostředí spoustu fotografií a stromovitá kapradina, kterou můžete vidět na obrázku 1, byla fotografována před jejím hlavním vstupem. Vlastně tam byly další exempláře této kapradiny, ale tahle z nich byla nejvyšší. Rostly nad silnicí procházející kol BZ. Odtud vrchol pouliční lampy na obrázku napravo.

Třebaže jsem si existence stromovitých kapradin vědom již dlouho, má osobní setkání s nimi jsou pro mne vždy velkým zážitkem. Spatřit stromovitou kapradinu rostoucí volně kdesi podél ulice v Česku by byla přímá cesta na psychiatrii.

Nicméně, možná, pokud se teorie globálního oteplování ukáže správnou, budou jednou stromovité kapradiny volně pěstovány také v mé vlasti. Prozatím, abych stromovité kapradiny viděl, musím za nimi cestovat do tropických nebo subtropických zemí nebo mohu navštívit některou z našich botanických zahrad.

Zde můžeme být pyšní na několik zajímavých a neobvyklých druhů kapradin, avšak žádná z nich si neuchovává stromovitý vzhled, všechny jsou jen byliny. Současné stromovité kapradiny jsou živoucími vzpomínkami na ztracené časy, kdy žádný člověk neexistoval.
