A Tree with A Tumor

There has been one tree in the Green among houses where now I have leaved in one of them. Of course it has not been the only one there. There have been a lot of trees and bushes there but this one attracted my attention immediately in the course of my first exploring walks with my dog Alf .

Because Alf´s exploring program has been quite different from mine in the mean time I have not been able to take more shots of the tree I am writing about.
At the first glance I thought I saw a made man product attached to its trunk higher above my head, an oval basket made of a natural material or something like that.

At the second and the more thorough look I could see that it was its own product. The thing resembles a huge tumor. The tree is getting a special authentic character due to the convex thing among other specimens of its species growing here. It is a maple, Acer saccharinum in Latin. And the tumor is no tree cancer as you may think. It is an example of its ability of self healing various injuries with a help of its own tissues. I suppose that a longer time before the maple lost one of its thicker branch. And then the tumorous form is something like a patch. The tree covered its fresh defect with it. It helped itself.

řeší svá poranění.

V Zeleni mezi domy, kde v jednom z nich teď žiju, je jeden strom. Je tam spousta stromů a keřů, ale tento upoutal mou pozornost během prvních průzkumných vycházek s Alfem okamžitě.

Protože je Alfův průzkumný program dost odlišný od mého, zatím jsem nemohl pořídit více snímků stromu, o němž zrovna píšu.
Na první letmý pohled jsem myslel, že vidím nějaký člověkem zhotovený produkt upevněný k jeho kmeni výše nad mou hlavou, oválný koš zhotovený z nějakého přírodního materiálu či něco takového.

Na druhý důkladnější pohled jsem mohl vidět, že jde o jeho vlastní produkt. Ta věc připomíná ohromný nádor. Díky té vypouklině získává mezi otatními exempláři jeho druhu, které tady rostou, zvláštní osobitý charakter. Je to javor, javor stříbrný (Acer saccharinum). A nádor není žádná stromová rakovina, jak byste snad mohli myslet. Je to příklad jeho schopnosti sebehojení různých poranění pomocí vlastních pletiv. Předpokládám, že před delším časem ten javor ztratil jednu ze svých silnějších větví. Takže tumorovitý útvar je něco jako náplast. Strom si pomohl sám.
