Hot Reports from Tenerife (VII)

a/ Inland

On Tuesday, 8.17. 2016, we took a taxi cab higher above our pension. Our destination was lost high in mountains. When the taxi cab went off we recorded three things: there was lower temperature at the altitude, there was a dense mist all around us and two or three buildings hardly showed that some people lived there. We were on the road surrounded by dense forests. We started walking alongside the road. From time to time we saw a side way disappearing in the dense vegetation, a very attractive fact to me, but it seemed to us that to follow the road would be the most rational thing what we could do.

Visibility was at the distance of about 10 meters in the place where the taxi cab left us. In fact this trip was a very long climb down from the mountains to the sea level. We covered a distance of about 15 - 20 km in total. We started our climb down in the altitude of about 900 - 1000 m.

I must point out that my clothing was very light. Robert was much better equipped in this aspect. I had a shirt with no sleeves but the coldness was not so cruel so that I had to use a towel over my shoulders. Fortunately, here, in Tenerife, my similar experience from the Corsican hills (from the altitude of about 800 m)) did not confirm itself. I could bear the lower temperature quite well. At the lower levels of our climb down the temperature was rising up rapidly again.

I am finishing the report "Inland" with a shot giving a chance to you to look into a wild forest at the highest level we could reach. Naturally, I have a lot of next photos from this trip. I have manifold looks at the mountainous Nature from the north part of Tenerife. Both detailed photos (various plants) and whole views of this kind of environment. I am going to publish them gradually. So that take this report as an introduction.

b/ Mr. Pigeon

We took a supper twice in various days of our stay at Tenerife in the same outdoor roofed garden of a restaurant down at the sea not so far behind the church tower you have already known from my pre-previous report. At the first time while we were waiting for our supper I noticed the pigeon you can see on the picture. He walked here and there an empty table near to us. First we thought he had only one foot but a while later it showed out the second one, too. After a longer and more detailed observation we could see that Mr. Pigeon had two feet but almost no fingers.

One or two days later we sat in the same outdoor garden and Mr. Pigeon was there, too. I caught him up standing on his one foot or rather on a stub of his foot than anything else. I do not guess how he lost his fingers. If it was a trauma or a bad luck or if he lost his fingers due to a disease or an infection. But it is sure that he survived all the problems and now he has collaborated well with one small restaurant nearby the sea in Santa Cruz in the north east of Tenerife the island.

a/ Vnitrozemí

Ve středu, 17.8. 2016, jsme si vzali výše nad penzionem taxi. Naše destinace byla ztracena vysoko v horách. Když taxík odjel, zaznamenali jsme tři věci: v té nadmořské výšce byla nižší teplota, všude kol nás byla hustá mlha a dvě či tři stavby sotva ukazovaly, že tam žijí nějací lidé. Byli jsme na cestě obklopené hustými lesy. Vydali jsme se podél silnice. Občas jsme zahlédli nějakou boční cestu mizející v husté vegetaci, pro mne fakt velice lákavý, ale zdálo se nám, že sledování silnice bude tím nejrozumnějším, co můžeme udělat.

V místě, kde nás taxi opustilo, byla viditelnost na vzdálenost asi 10 metrů. Tenhle výlet byl vlastně dlouhý sestup z hor na úroveň moře. Celkově jsme urazili vzdálenost asi 15 -20 km. Náš sestup jsme zahájili v nadmořské výšce asi 900 - 1000 m.

Musím podotknout, že mé odění bylo velice lehké. V tomto ohledu byl Robert mohem lépe vybaven. Měl jsem triko bez rukávů, ale chlad nebyl tak krutý, aby musel použít ručník přes ramena. Naštěstí tady na Tenerife se moje podobná zkušenost z korzických pahorků (z nadm. výšky cca 800 m) nepotvrdila. Nižší teplotu jsem dokázal přestát docela dobře. V nižších úrovních sestupu teplota opět rychle stoupala.

Zakončuji report "Vnitrozemí" snímkem, jenž vám dává možnost nahlédnout do divokého lesa v nejvyšší úrovni, které jsme dokázali dosáhnout. Přirozeně, že mám z tohoto výletu spoustu dalších fotek. Mám rozmanité pohledy na horskou přírodu severní části Tenerife. Detailní fotografie (různé rostliny) i celkové pohledy na tento typ prostředí. Hodlám je zveřejňovat postupně. Takže tento report berte jako úvod.

b/ Pan Holub

Dali jsme si dvakrát večeři v různých dnech pobytu na Tenerife ve stejné venkovní zastřešené zahrádce jedné restaurace u moře nedaleko za kostelní věží, kterou už znáte z mého předešlého postu.

Poprvé, zatímco jsme čekali na večeři, povšiml jsem si holuba, kterého vidíte na obrázku. Procházel se sem tam po prázdném stole vedle nás. Zprvu jsme mysleli, že má jen jednu nohu, ale po chvíli ukázal i druhou. Po delším a podrobnějším pozorování jsme viděli, že pan Holub má dvě nohy, ale skoro žádné prsty.

Asi o dva dny později jsme se usadili ve stejné zahrádce a pan Holub tam byl také. Zachytil jsem ho, jak stojí na jedné noze či spíš na pahýlu nohy než cokoliv jiného. Netuším, jak o prsty přišel. Jesli to byl úraz nebo nešťastná náhoda, či, přišel-li o prsty kvůli nějaké chorobě či infekci. Ale jisté je, že všechny ty potíže přežil a teď v pohodě spolupracuje s jednou malou restaurací poblíž moře v Santa Cruz na severovýchodě ostrova Tenerife.
