A Woman in A Weasel

Have you ever seen a woman in a weasel? No? Well, now you have the rare occasion to examine her from her head to her feet. At the first glance she looks fragile and innocent but if you become more familiar to her you will see that her appearance is false. In reality she is a cruel and emotionless little beast.
A time before I came upon a picture by Ingres, the famous painter in his times. It has been in a thick encyclopedia devoted to the modern arts and the book has began with the painters placed by historians of the arts in the period so called mannerism.
It is a period of the late renaissance and the late baroque, the time when artists (mostly painters and sculptors) repeated the same with a boring perfectness. It was the end of one very famous and fruitful epoch.
Ingres has been presented as a typical example of mannerism in the encyclopedia. His picture has named: A woman with an ermine. There has been a sitting young slim woman with an ermine coat incl. its head thrown over her naked shoulders on the picture. Her cast is rather frozen, the young woman radiates a kind of a frozen joy, she resembles to an inert doll rather than a healthy young woman in a good mood. She would like to be joyful and relaxed but as if she were elf-struck by her ermine boa. The picture is perfect but I miss the life in it. What I perceive only is the coldness of the flexible little beast in its winter coat.
Well, one day I decided to draw my own version. The result is in front of your eyes.
I´m not going to be weasel-worded. I´ll tell you something. Meet the dearest woman in my life.

Žena v lasičce

Už jste někdy viděli ženu v lasičce? Ne? Teď máte vzácnou příležitost prohlédnout si ji od hlavy k patě. Na první pohled vypadá křehká a nevinná, ale když se s ní víc seznámíte, poznáte, že má falešný vzhled. Ve skutečnosti je krutou a bezcitnou šelmičkou.
Před časem jsem narazil na jeden obraz od Ingrese, v jeho době slavného malíře. Je v tlusté encyklopedii věnované modernímu umění a ta knížka začíná malíři, kteří historikové umění řadí do období tzv. manýrismu.
Je to období pozdní renesance a pozdního baroka. Je to doba, kdy umělci (hlavně malíři a sochaři) opakovali totéž s nudnou dokonalostí. Byl to konec jedné velmi slavné a plodné epochy.
Ingres je v té encyklopedii uveden jako typický příklad manýrismu. Jeho obraz se jmenuje Žena s hranostajem. Na obraze je sedící mladá štíhlá žena s hranostají kožešinou vč. hlavy přehozenou přes nahá ramena. Její výraz je dost ztrnulý, ta mladá žena vyzařuje jakousi ustrnulou radost, podobá se spíš netečné panence než zdravé mladé ženě v dobré náladě. Ráda by byla veselá a uvolněná, ale jako by byla tím svým hranostajím boa začarovaná. Obraz je dokonalý, ale postrádám v něm život. Jediné, co vnímám, je chlad pružné šelmičky v zimním kabátu.
Před časem jsem se rozhodl nakreslit si vlastní verzi. Výsledek máte před očima.
Nehodlám se vytáčet. Něco vám řeknu. Seznamte se s nejdražší ženou v mém životě.
