On A Water Primula

Today I pick up three photos of many others I´ve been receiving from my friend Adam Majer. I´ve seen this water species once in my life so far. It was many years ago. Then I had one girlfriend. (See the post on the buckbean for more detail) Her sester worked in one natural museum as a botanist. She visited to us in a small village where we spent our vacations. She brought a present to me. It was a living specimen of this rare plant in Czech republic.

She had to tell me what was a kind of it ´cause I didn´t know it, I saw it in the first time. I had never encountered it in the wild till that time. In theory I had known a lot of various plant species but this one was missing in my memory. It was my first bitter lesson that I knew nothing.

We took it from a plastic bag with water and placed it into a dish. Then I could examine its habitus in the more detail way. I could see its branches with line like dense foliage freely floating in water. Its flowering was over already, one or two scapes bore remains of flowers only.

Who wouldn´t know the ordinary primula (Primula veris L.) in various cultivars flowering early in the spring in our climatic zone in our gardens. We can see it in the wild, too, but at the present times it is a far rarer experience. There are several species of Primula L. the genus in my country and some of them are reduced to conserved localities only. Also from time to time we can see escapes of the cultivated sorts of Primula the genus.

According to botanists there can be seen twelve genera within Primulaceae Vent. the family in Czech republic. Mostly they are represented with one or two species only and they belong to the rarest plants with us. The Hottonia L. the genus is placed by botanists into Primulaceae Vent. the family, too. It has only one species here, i.e. Hottonia palustris L.

This plant is the only one within this family with us growing or living in water element fully. It is our only water primula.

O vodní prvosence

Dnes vybírám tři fota z mnoha dalších, které dostávám od přítele Adama Majera. Zatím jsem tento druh viděl jednou v životě. Bylo to před mnoha lety.Tehdy jsem měl přítelkyni (podrobněji viz post o vachtě). Její sestra pracovala v jednom přírodovědném muzeu jako botanička. Navštívila nás ve vesničce, kde jsme trávili dovolenou. Přinesla mi dárek. Živý exemplář tohoto v České republice vzácného druhu.

Musela mi sdělit, co je to za druh, protože jsem ho neznal, viděl jsem ho poprvé. V přírodě jsem se s ním do té doby nikdy nesetkal. Teoreticky jsem znal spoustu rozmanitých rostlinných druhů, ale tento mi v paměti chyběl. Byla to má první hořká lekce, že nic nevím.

Vyndali jsme ji z plastového sáčku s vodou a vložili ji do misky. Potom jsem si její vzhled mohl prohlédnout detailněji. Mohl jsem vidět větve s čárkovitým hustým olistěním volně vzplývající ve vodě. Už byla odkvetlá, jeden či dva květní stvoly nesly jen zbytky květů.

Kdo by neznal obyčejný petrklíč (prvosenku jarní - Primula veris L.) v různých kultivarech kvetoucí časně zjara v zahradách v naší klimatické zóně. Můžeme ho vidět i v přírodě, ale v současnosti je to daleko vzácnější zážitek. V mé vlasti existuje několik druhů rodu prvosenka (Primula L.) a některé z nich jsou omezeny jen na chráněné lokality. Občas můžeme rovněž pozorovat zplanělé rostliny pěstovaných sort petrklíče (Primula L.).

Podle botaniků lze v rámci čeledi prvosenkovitých (Primulaceae Vent.) vidět v České republice dvanáct rodů. Většinou jsou zastoupeny pouze jedním či dvěma druhy a patří u nás k rostlinám nejvzácnějším. Rod žebratka (Hottonia L.) botanikové řadí také do čeledi prvosenkovitých (Primulaceae Vent.). Má zde pouze jeden druh, tj. žebratku bahenní (H. palustris L.).

Tahle rostlina je v prvosenkovitých (Primulaceae Vent.) u nás jedinou, která roste či žije zcela ve vodním živlu. Je to náš jediný vodní petrklíč.
